Join us for the first Net Tuesday London!

The 4 Nov. event topic is blogging. But not just some folks talking about blogging who already use it, or only want to talk about their own blog. This is going to be a bit more fun: we will have a select group 'representing' their preferred blogging platform go head-to-head over the capabilities, functionality, and general goodness of their chosen platform. This way we can hear the ins and outs of platforms in a way we may not usually experience. This discussion will be followed by a conversation with questions and answers about the various ways nonprofit organizations can introduce and utilize blogs to connect with communities.

DETAILS:

Date: 4 November, 2008
Time: 5:30-7:30 pm
Topic: Head-to-head Blogging
Location: CTT, 1 London Bridge
Provided: Snacks and coffee/tea
Bring: Your brain, your energy, your business cards

We hope to kick these monthly events off right with a great group of people, some lively presentations/conversation, and lots of networking - come join us on the 4th!

Great to meet people and hear about people's views on the platforms. I've written up a summary on the platforms part of the discussion here: http://www.usingmyhead.com/... and will do one of the other part (strategy) next. Looking forward to the next one!

  • 45 attendees
    •  we had terrific levels of participation and shared learning
    •  Whoops, think I posted my thoughts in the wrong place (under 'Talk about this meetup').
    •  enjoyed the format and topic. good to see other faces than usual.
    •  It was amusing and informative - that's a pretty good combination!
    •  I thought it was very useful for me and very entertaining. There were some really good networking opportunities and I really felt that people were there to support social change. I am interested to see what the next one will be. Wikis? Community sites? Thanks to all who organised it.
    •  Overall good. Less focussed that I would have hoped. I was unsure if it successfully met the needs of the few people there that hadn't yet started blogging and were looking for guidance (though as I'm not one of them I can't speak for them). The discussion on blogging platforms was a little random but I think it performed it's task of letting everyone realize that wordpress was most probably the best solution for the majority of cases! The suggestions for tips on the top things to do before you start blogging was the best. Of course the really best bit and main reason for going was getting to meet and talk to other people with similar issues etc
    •  An interesting overview on blogging platforms, and good insight on some specific tools and strategies to implement blogging in organisations. Well organised. Thanks.
    •  Really enjoyed this - good topic to kick off with, aided by some very skilled and knowledgeable practitioners in the audience. The informal nature of the session helped break the ice, and Net Tuesday was great for making new connections beyond our usual audience. Pleasantly surprised by how many people turned up for a 6pm session on a Tuesday! Looking forward to the next one.
    •  It made me realise that there was a whole sector of e-comms people I had never realised existed including CTT. Good cross section of organisations which was very useful. It might have been worthwhile to have had one networked pc so that uses of each blogging platform had a bit more to talk around. The final list of tips and pointers to setting up a blog both personal and work related was superb and pretty well definitive. Amy was a very charming energic animateur.
    •  A really useful event. Talking to other people about their experiences was helpful and insightful.
    •  interesting although not completely relevent to my line of work
