This month, we'll focus on engaging communities online, specifically youth. YouthNet will be the main presenters, focusing on examples from their different projects engaging youth and providing services via social networking and other social media tools.
This is a great opportunity to hear some local case studies and get ideas. Is your organization trying to grow a community presence online? Are you wondering about legal issues or problems that arise with communication online (especially when dealing with under 18s)?
Here's the agenda for the evening:
5:30-6:00pm Networking
6:00-6:05pm Welcome - Amy & Fiona
6:05-6:30pm Short 'presentations' from YouthNet about YouthNet's experiences of engaging young people in their spaces (TheSite.org community, blogging on do-it.org.uk, the online consultation on Ning); and other spaces (facebook groups, fan pages and advertising; being a knowledge partner on Yahoo! Answers) and a few things they've learnt along the way.
6:30-7:00pm Open the floor to questions/discussion
7:00-7:30pm Challenge exercise (small groups with different prompts to brainstorm and present to the larger group)
7:30-8:00pm Networking and close.
