1 attended (est.) – No rating yet Hey y'all, So... There'll be a NetSquared Meetup on the deck of my place this upcoming Tuesday. Get there at 6:00 and we'll start a' talkin' at 6:30. The theme of the meeting will be this: Techies For Good: What Can We Do? (More on this momentarily). There'll be beers and I look forward to shooting the breeze with all of you. I tried to get this up and running last year around this time, but schedule, personal and professional, didn't allow for regular meetings. Fortunately my personal schedule has cleared a bit and I very much look forward to touching base with the Portland Tech Community and talking about what sorts of things we can be doing in the for-good realm, as social entrepreneurs, aids to nonprofit, giving and activist communities, and so-on. I should be clear that this meeting is meant in no way to compete with the fabulous goings-on of the NTEN Meetups, which have been serving as fabulous gatherings for those in the for-good sector trying to figure out how to make tech work for their causes. This meeting is pointedly complementary and for altruistic tech-geeks who hope to co-conspire. I very much encourage co-attendance at the NTEN meetups as we do best when all communities are learning from each other, and I love that we use the same email list to keep each other informed. So this conversation will be another initial talk - Are there any projects we'd like to discuss participating in, co-collaborating on, and so-on. It's like a knitting circle for tech and 2.0 geeks. We'll also discuss changing the days of the Meetups. Tuesdays are a bit congested on the Meetup front. If you have any questions, please let me know. All of my best, Ps.
